The 2023 Taiwan Disaster Management Seminar was grandly held on December 8th at the National Fire Agency, Ministry of the Interior. Organized by Disaster Management Society of Taiwan and co-hosted by our department, this annual event featured the public presentation of annual awards in the morning, followed by two keynote speeches: memorizing disaster prevention master, Professor Yan Qing-Lian and a discussion on climate change adaptation in the post-pandemic era.

In the afternoon session, the agenda included presentations on the achievements in disaster prevention from the National Science Council and nine sessions covering various topics in disaster management research, providing a rich and comprehensive experience. Five of our institute's graduate students presented their research in the student sessions.

Among them, Tseng Yi-Chan was awarded the Excellent Award of Student Research Paper Competition for his presentation on "The Impact of Localized Disaster Preparedness Education on Regional Disaster Resilience: A Case Study of the pubuy Tmali program in the Tbulan Elementary School." (supervised by Professor Lin Bei-Shan). Huang Yu-Chun received the Honorable Mention of Student Paper Award for his presentation on "The Analysis of Influence about Housing Recovery after Earthquake" (guided by Professor Lu Jing-Chien). Congratulations to the outstanding achievements of our department's faculty and students!
