Educational Program

The Graduate School of Disaster Management (GSDM) at Central Police University provides interdisciplinary graduate education in disaster prevention, emergency management, and disaster resilience. The program integrates academic research with practical applications to develop professionals capable of addressing increasingly complex disaster risks and emergency management challenges.
Program Features

• Interdisciplinary Education
Integrates disaster management, disaster prevention engineering, risk assessment, emergency response, GIS applications, disaster-related laws and regulations, and public safety.

• Research-Oriented Training
Students receive systematic training in research methods and are required to conduct independent research leading to a master’s thesis.

• Integration of Theory and Practice
Courses emphasize the application of disaster management theories and analytical methods to real-world disaster prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery.

• Disaster Management and Policy
The curriculum strengthens students’ understanding of disaster governance, disaster management systems, legal frameworks, and inter-agency coordination.

• Technology and Spatial Analysis
Training includes GIS and disaster analysis, disaster simulation, risk assessment, and other analytical tools for disaster management and emergency planning.

Curriculum

The curriculum is organized into four major areas. Students are required to complete courses from each area during their period of study and earn at least 27 graduate credits.

Academic and Research Requirements
• Students must complete at least 27 graduate credits.
• Students must complete courses in all four curriculum areas.
• Students are required to select a thesis advisor and develop an independent research project.
• A public master’s thesis proposal review must be completed before the degree examination.
• Students must publish at least one disaster-related academic paper as the first author or corresponding author in a peer-reviewed academic journal or an eligible academic conference proceeding.
• A master’s thesis and oral defense are required for graduation.
