publish date : 2024-10-17
On October 17, 2024, the first in a series of lectures for the 10th Anniversary of Graduate School of Disaster Management took place. Thanks to the former Minister of the Interior, Prof. Hung-Yuan Lee of NTU's Department of Civil Engineering, who brought a wonderful lecture to the Institute of Disaster Prevention, the Department of Fire Protection, and the Department of Security today, analyzing the state of the environment and major disasters in the past 20 years from the global disaster risk to the potential crisis in Taiwan, and proposing strategies for the future trend of global climate change and disasters.

All countries in the world are affected by climate change, including the continuous wildfires in the Canadian Arctic Circle, the floods in Zhengzhou, a dry region of China, and the heat waves and high temperatures in many parts of Europe, etc. Unusual weather phenomena are affecting people, and the number of climate refugees continues to rise year after year. How to maintain a basic life in such an environment has become an important issue for the development of modern societies and the formulation of governmental policies.
