The third of the 10th Anniversary of Graduate School of Disaster Management Lecture Series was held on October 24, 2024. Today, we invited Assistant Professor Yu Chung Hsu of the Department of Urban Planning and Disaster Prevention at Ming Chuan University to give a lecture at the Institute. Mr. Hsu introduced the principles and applications of remote sensing in the most simple and easy-to-understand way, which is used everywhere in our lives, such as in taking photos, telescopes, and drone airborne photography, and it is even more useful in the area of prevention and relief. It can also help us in the prevention and relief of disasters in various stages of prevention, mitigation, preparation, response and recovery and reconstruction.

At present, the most widely used remote sensing vehicle is drone, Mr. Hsu shared how to use drone combined with laser detection and ranging technology and used in daily life, disaster prevention and rescue, can be used to survey the disaster area and construct a model of the current situation of the disaster area, so as to penetrate into the disaster area where search and rescue personnel and maintenance personnel can not enter, and to understand the possible access paths as well as repair paths, which is undoubtedly a great help to disaster rescue and recovery and reconstruction work. This is undoubtedly a great help to the disaster rescue and recovery and reconstruction work.
