Risk communication is often involved in disaster prevention and rescue work, group work among students, and conversations among couples, all of which are communication processes (even AIs can chat with people in this era of technology)!

In the process of communication, both parties are transmitters and receivers, and it is not easy to express emotions, content and purpose clearly in just a few sentences. Ms. Huei-Chi Lin opened her speech by sharing the “Characteristics of Verbal Communication”. Through a short video, she let us understand that various modes of communication in different situations may produce very different effects. Ms. Lin then used various real-life examples to illustrate that barriers to verbal communication are often caused by misperceptions of others, resulting in misunderstandings in the communication process due to misinterpretation.

In the class, Mr. Lin also shared tips on communication and active listening to help people communicate in the family, workplace, and in life by “saying things in other words” and developing their ability to listen actively, so as to avoid conflicts on the one hand, and achieve the purpose of communication on the other.
