In Taipei City, many kinds of disaster risks exist at the same time, how to protect the lives and properties of the public and minimize the loss when each disaster strikes is an important issue for disaster prevention and relief agencies.

The effectiveness of disaster prevention and relief is based on the system. Secretary Mo first introduced the history of Taipei City's disaster prevention and relief system, which has been gradually adjusted and shaped through several experiences, and compared the organization and establishment in Tokyo, Japan, and New York, U.S.A., in order to explore how the current practice can meet the characteristics of our social environment. Next, the Secretary mentioned the training and utilization of disaster prevention officers. Taipei City has actively organized training courses and set up collaboration centers in various districts to assist organizations of different attributes to serve as a bridge between the government and the public.

Lastly, Mr. Mok mentioned a few issues that he believes are worth further study in the field of disaster prevention and relief from a practical point of view, extending from the four directions of disaster mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery and reconstruction. Among them, Mr. Mok considered the information and communication field to be the most important issue, which shows that in the era of rapid technological advancement, it is even more important to continue to improve disaster prevention and relief through the power of science and technology.
